Hours: The Oakhurst Baptist Church Library is open whenever the building is open. Self service check out procedures are posted on the desk. A library committee member is usually available for assistance for about fifteen minutes after Sunday worship service.
Collection: The Oakhurst Library contains many excellent resources for theological study, Baptist history, books and articles written by Oakhurst members, and a wide variety of other topics. There are also a number of classic adult fiction books. We subscribe to many periodicals, all of which may be checked out. In the children’s collection, there are picture books, “easy” readers, and fiction titles. There are also video (VHS or DVD) and audio cassette recordings of Sunday worship and special services available for check out located in the History Room inside the library.
The library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification system and currently maintains a manual card catalog system for locating books by title, subject or author. Beginning in 2007, lists of recent additions to our collection are periodically posted in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format. (See sidebar for downloads.)
Keep in mind that these are not all the books available in the library. Please feel free to visit the library and search the card catalog or browse the shelves for something of interest to you. The library door is never locked
Donations to the library are welcomed; however, the library committee will determine which donated books or other media are appropriate for addition to our collection. Please contact the committee if you have questions about donations.
Circulation: All materials may be checked out for a two-week period. Materials may be renewed. There is no limit to the number of items a patron may check out.
