Memorial for Black Lives Matter, 5/2, 1 PM

#blacklivesmatter

Join us at 1 PM on Saturday, May 2 for a memorial for Black men killed in police violence, especially those in Georgia. The service in the sanctuary of Oakhurst Baptist Church (222 East Lake Drive, Decatur, GA 30013) will include testimonies from family members of two Black men recently killed in DeKalb County, music, prayers and a eulogy. Following the service there will be a free catered meal in Fellowship Hall. The event is organized by Rise Up Georgia, co-sponsored by the OBC Missions Committee and Create Community 4 Decatur, the newly-named local interfaith group formed after the “Black Lives Matter” vigil in Harmony Park last December. Prior to the service in our sanctuary, participants from across Georgia will gather in West End for a funeral procession across Atlanta to Oakhurst. For more information, see the Rise Up GA website:http://www.riseupga.org/_restinpower_a_memorial_for_black_lives (note underscores before the words).
