Integrating Prayer into Life

Integrating Prayer into Life

This 10-week adult Sunday School class will explore the practice of regular morning and evening prayer using the book Day by Day These Things We Pray, by Arthur Boers.

Boers found value in the ancient monastic practice of using a prayer book to pray the "daily office" or "hours." His book, invitingly and accessibly written, blends ideas with personal stories. it covers history and theology of daily prayer and Boers' own inquiry into its use at Iona, Taize, and elsewhere. It explores both the benefits of this type of prayer and objections to it that are often raised in Protestant tradition, including the Mennonite church in which he pastored.

During this class our regular Patchwork class, which is exploring Thomas Merton's New Seeds of Contemplation, will take a hiatus and will resume on March 20.

The class meets at 9:30 am on the second floor.
