Join us at Oakhurst Baptist Church, as we celebrate our 103rd anniversary as a congregation and almost half of that time with a firm commitment to our evolving sense of what it really means to be the church of Jesus Christ in this place, truly open to all and affirming our sisters and brothers near and far.
The choir sings Bruckner's "Locus iste," and we hear Walker Knight's poem from 1971, "It Was Here We Cried."
Pastor Lanny Peters leads us in preaching on a text from Luke 14, as we are reminded of the humility of true ministry to others.
"Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live, a place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive; built of hope and dreams and visions, rock of faith and vault of grace; here the love of Christ shall end divisions: All are welcome in this place." (lyrics by Marty Haugen)
