Conflict Transformation Workshop: April 24, 2004
-
The Peacemakers Mission Group is sponsoring a one-day workshop on conflict transformation led by Lee McKenna
duCharme, who is on the staff of the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America. Lee has extensive international experience, including leading conflict transformation workshops in war-torn areas of the Philippines.
Conflict transformation seeks to find a common ground among those experiencing conflict in order to transform the conflict into a creative opportunity. The workshop will focus on the theory and practice of conflict transformation as well as stories from BPFNA’s work in other parts of the world. We’ll begin at 9 A.M. and finish by 5 P.M. Lee will lead a shorter workshop with the youth on Friday evening and will also preach on Sunday morning.
Attendance will be limited, and pre-registration is required. The cost is $15, including lunch. Please complete a Registration form and place it with your check in the offering plate, or mail it to the church. The check should be payable to Oakhurst Baptist Church. Please put “CT workshop” on the “for” line. Deadline for registration is April 1.

Mission Statement
-
The Oakhurst Baptist Peacemakers Mission Group seeks to promote reconciliation grounded in the peace of Christ in individuals, in our faith community, in our city, and in our world. We wish to build a culture of peace by:
being and building a support group for peacemakers
developing non-violent ways to address issues
studying and promoting proven methods of peacemaking
providing a communications network for sharing information
partnering with others who work for peace and justice
We seek to ground all of our efforts in prayer, find the most authentic faith response, and rely upon God’s grace. We walk by faith and understand it is not our duty to succeed but to faithfully sustain the journey.
