Trip to Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, AL
Saturday, September 21
On Wednesday, September 18 the NAACP DeKalb in partnership with Compassionate Atlanta and FAMA is launching a six-month “DeKalb Remembrance Project” officially titled “A Journey of Remembrance and Reconciliation.” This journey will culminate in the installation of a lynching memorial in DeKalb county, potentially Decatur square, to memorialize those both known and unknown who were lynched in DeKalb county.
We will be participating in an interfaith commemoration service on September 18, which you can read about on the next page. In addition, on Saturday, September 21, we will take a day trip to the Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama. We will leave early Saturday morning and return late Saturday evening.
Advance ticket purchases are required. If you would like to attend, please tell Lauren by Sunday, September 8. Tickets are $10.
